Donation campaign for Ukraine
Markus Gawlok works in the profile division at Zapp as a technician. He himself immigrated to Germany when he was 15 years old. He doesn't have any refugee experience, but he knows how it feels to start all over again in a country where you don't know the language and have no friends. That's why he is eager to help. He starts a campaign in social media. The response is overwhelming. Through an old friend who is a cardiologist in his hometown in Poland, he gets first-hand information about what is needed. Zapp employees also donate a total of 12 lattice boxes filled with sleeping mats, sleeping bags, medicines, bandages and much more at the two locations in Ergste and Unna. Also, the management of Zapp does not hesitate long and supports him with € 2,800, which is used to purchase medicine and also pays for the fuel of the vans to go to Poland and back. In view of the rising prices at the gas pumps, this is a further valuable contribution.
For what was originally planned as a single trip to Poland with a car and a trailer, it now resulted into two trips with six big vans and even an additional truck, organized through a fundraising campaign by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hagen-Haspe. And best of all: next weekend, Markus Gawlok will again be on his way to Poland with six electric generators and more. The entire Zapp team wishes him much success for his humanitarian activity and says THANK YOU!
